About the Subscript Generator

Chemistry teachers, students and science fans all hit the same wall: H₂O is easy to write on paper, impossible in a chat box. This generator converts your text into Unicode subscript characters, so chemical formulas, math indices and variable notation survive pasting into any plain-text field.

All digits (₀-₉), the math signs (+, −, =, parentheses) and seventeen letters have official subscript forms and convert automatically — enough for every formula from CO₂ to C₆H₁₂O₆. Letters without a Unicode subscript pass through unchanged.

How to use it

  1. 1Type the characters you want lowered — usually digits or letters.
  2. 2The subscript version appears instantly.
  3. 3Click copy and paste it into your formula or post.
