About the Text Truncator
Meta descriptions cap at 160 characters, tweets at 280, database fields at whatever someone decided in 2009. This truncator cuts your text to any exact limit — the ellipsis counts toward it, so the result never overflows — and prefers to break at a word boundary instead of mid-word.
Choose your ending style: a typographic …, plain three dots, or [...] for editorial cuts. A live badge tells you exactly how many of the original characters survived.
How to use it
- 1Paste the text you need to shorten.
- 2Set the maximum length in characters.
- 3Pick an ellipsis style, then copy the truncated result.
